BalaGopal addressing the Public Hearing
Public Hearing on Polepally SEZ was held on 7 August in Polepally. It was organized on the main the entrance leading to the Polepally SEZ at 11 a.m.
Public hearing panel included Balagopal, Ratnamala, Hema Venkat Rao, and Pashyam Yadagiri. Speakers from Maharashtra and Nirup Reddy couldn’t attend due to some urgent programmes. Representatives of several organizations took part in the public hearing expressing solidarity with the Polepally struggle. ‘Nava Telangana Praja Party’ (NTPP) visited Polepally and talk about the SEZ tragedy in public and to the media along with the people who came from several villages. Today, NTPP chief Mr. Devender Goud, Mr Peddi Reddy, Machineni K Rao, Pashyam Yadagiri, Allgadapa Panduranga Rao, NTPP volunteers and supporters visited Polepally in large number. Throughout the way from Hyderabad to Polepally people received Mr.Goud’s team with great applause and warm greetings!

Today Fateh Maidan, the center of Hyderabad, was flooded with Polepalli SEZ Victims. Hundreds of farmers including men and women, old and young came to Hyderabad to tell the APIIC authorities of their woes and give them their demands.
There were many activists in the dharna. Police reached there in large number before any one can imagine, they were pestering for hundred details of the protesters
Government yesterday sanctioned 4.50 acres (four and half acres) land for graveyard (smashanam)’ for Polepalli. Is it to say that the death of Polepally is certain or that it’s required before they can get a square meal? APIIC-the future is here, is the sign board appears on the wall with Big letters.. so thats the future of Polepalli farmers..DEATH

Today we visited Venkatamma in Badepally Govt hospital. She lost all hopes and consumed poison and is critical. Madhu Kagula is there with them from yesterday to give confidence that there are still people who honor their struggle and understand their concern. That there are people who respect one’s bond with the land and the pain of umbilical cord with mother earth being chopped off.

Today, police have lifted/ abducted 7 contestants from Polepalli when they were campaigning at ‘Kauramma Santha’. Police abductions of contestants, in violation of basic democratic norms, is perhaps to hide challenging voices away from CM’s election visit to the area. (ఇంకా…)

Andhunaa athi maamoolu prajalu, niluva needalekunda cheyabadina saamaanyula dhikkaaramaa? Prabhuvula dhana bala pradarsana mundhu prathi okkaru talavonchukunna praanthamlo saamanyula saahasamaa?

Polepalli SEZ victims file nominations to Jadcherla Assembly Constituency
Eleven candidates from Polepalli village have filed nominations today i.e. 9 May 2008 to protest the atrocities unleashed on the rural poor in the name of Special Economic Zone.
Today Polepalli had dialogue with Maharashtra activist, Mr. Vilas Sonawane, working President, Lok Shashan Andolan, Maharashtra , involved with SEZ movements in India, specially in Maharashtra and West Bengal, visited Polepalli and shared his experiences. Mr. Goutham, Convenor, Mahajan Party, journalist and writer also joined. Vilas shared his struggle experiences against Reliance group in Maharashtra which is the first hub of SEZs.

Polepalli farmers are still marching with hope and courage against all odds. Yesterday they had dharna at MRO’s office and Collectorate in hot mid day at Jadcherla.
I saw many farmers are sitting with the polluted chemical water bottles and placards seeking justice. Some people’s organizations were supporting the issue. (ఇంకా…)
